“Something I think Stu knows is that this venture is a risk and a challenge, but hey, just maybe it will work? And he is willing to take the chance. But he also isn’t too fussed if it doesn’t, which I think is really lucky. I mean, interview us again when he’s thirty and see how it works out.”

Some very specific deets on the new album!
Despite the stylistic pivot, Mackenzie insists the album remains unmistakably King Gizzard. “It sounds so crunchy, but also beautiful,” he says. Adds Walker, “Alien Metal goes really hard, but it also goes to really interesting places. And it feels unique — it feels like us, still.”
There’s only one track to go by yet, but from the first couple of listens, this seems to be true. I mean, I’m so ignorant of techno/dance music that I can’t tell Milwaukee acid hops from Chicago deep-dish house, but this still felt like Gizzard to me. (More so than the little bit of the live Stu sets that I’ve heard so far.)
Definitely getting some Depp Brooklyn neo-politan vibes from this track, but I can see how you’d be pulling some chi town DEEP Dish from these funky beats. Either way - Gizz AF
