New-to-KGLW.net interviews with the band

Kind of a different one today! From 2025, Jackson from Heaps Keen talks about his film Not One Drop of Blood.

Some words of wisdom for up-and-coming bands from Stu and Lucas!

via Rolling Stone Australia

Neat little 22 minute discussion of Alien Metal, modular synthesis, setlist construction, and their upcoming Australia shows, and Spotify.

Triple J interview.

Lots of good nuggets in this one:

  • Joey and Stu explain their modular synthesis journeys
  • Stu gives a very nice explanation of how going modular has allowed him to appreciate the immediacy of the guitar in ways he hadn’t before
  • Joey gushes about the band’s K Bridge performance and how proud he was of everyone’s performance that night
  • They explain Ambrose’s significant significant contribution to the album (while Joey hilariously notes: “Ambrose is not as far along on his [eurorack] journey as Stu and I”)
  • Q: What’s next? Stu: BLUEGRASS … “with a very special young man”

(this post this replies to was Stu’s previous appearance on Triple J from Nov ‘25 where he infamously responded “TECHNO” to the “What’s next?” question)

Ambrose Interview – featuring the debut of “Pieces” from the upcoming Orbrose release slated for some time in 2027. Its gonna be a blues album!

Amby also confirms Billy Strings is the “very special young man” to be featured on the bluegrass album Stu confirmed in the recent Triple J interview.

He also says he has 2 other collabs coming but he can’t reveal them, I guess one of them is the contribution to the GUM album for which he was in studio with Kevin Parker and members of Geese and Pond, I guess he doesn’t count the future Murlocs album so I wonder what the other one will be. Maybe harmonica on a Jesse Welles album given that he played with him? I would love a feature on a rap track otherwise.

Some Stu quotes in this one. Less about alien metal and more about the genesis of the bootlegger program and the fans he started to notice coming to multiple shows starting around 2015 that set them off on a trajectory they’re still following today.

This one goes back a bit to 2021. Joey aka Bullant joins Very Fantastic Radio for a brief chat and to provide the tracks for the second half of the show.

Conversation w/ Joey at 52:30 and Bullant mix at 57:14. The host notes that they opened for KGLW back before they’d even settled on the name. Joey: “That was back in 2010. We weren’t even called King Gizzard yet. I think we were called… fuck… Carton of Milk, or some shit”

Something old and something new have been added to the Interview Archive:

Joey and Cavs joined Double J radio’s “Lunch” segment to talk Alien Metal, upcoming shows, and bring some rare vinyl of their own to spin. Of note in this one, Joey mentions they had originally intended to take all of 2027 off from touring before realizing its such a big part of the band’s dna that they scrapped the idea. He also notes that they still have some work to do on the collab album with Billy Strings and pegged a likely release sometime “later in 2027”. Joey/Cavs segments start a little after the 2-hour mark:

Here’s a verrrrrrrrrry old interview with Eric from 2012 just around the inception of the band. “when we started Gizzard, me and Cavs were both drummers and we couldn’t be bothered setting up two drum kits all the time”…lol, ok Eric…
