Yeah, Those type 2 Bouncings were so good and unexpected. I’ve been on the couch for most of tour and I’ve just been blown away each night. Melt the Guns at Fenway was fantastic, as I’m also a huge fan of XTC. That’s probably my favorite of the tour.
Y’all are always talking about Fish this and Fish that so I threw on some Marillion this morning, but I am just not often in the mood for that level of prog goofiness. So I went with the Sun City Girls who put a bit more weird menace in their nonsense.

For some dumb reason, I usually go chronologically. I like to see where a band comes from, how they developed and who influenced them. Regarding the inconsistency, I want to disagree. They very consistently do very different stuff on their albums. From there, there are three options, you may like all of it, some of it or none of it, and that pretty much depends on your own musical taste. No doubt they do all of it on a very high level. For their different versions “Longing to be the mountain” (the album title already, it’s just great) and “Regenerator” may be a good starting point.

All true, I just meant that on each individual album there are songs that I love and songs I can skip.

With Alien Metal being out and sounding so much like the 90s, plus Blood Incantation’s late night set ending up sounding like Ozric Tentacles, I have been revisiting Eat Static.

Kiasmos - II (Reworked)
Still decompressing from tour and this one is really hitting the spot right now. Beautiful textures swirling in the mist. Great for a contemplative comedown … and for shaking the damn cold and sore throat I brought back with me from tour.
OK, so I’m definitely getting this Hypnotic Floor album, and am going to check out another. I think my first reaction was “meh,” because some of the sounds were more “rootsy” than I’m into, but I can be stupid like that sometimes.
CCBoBB might be my favorite Les side project. Caught them it 04 in Boston and they did a sick cover of Maggot Brain in the encore. Buckethead ain’t no Eddie Hazel but boy he freaking killed the solo, I come back to that with some regularity.

Gotta admit this new Mastodon is much better than I would have expected. I guess it makes a difference when everyone in the band actually wants to be there.
Some of the lyrics are pretty explicit about the absence, even outside of the one song they had previously released. I have lost a lot of friends to drugs and alcohol, many of them haunt me at times, so I am actually relating way more than I thought I would.
