Sunday morning bumbling around the house to the new Circles Around the Sun, Interludes 2.
Nala Sinephro, anyone?
Joni Mitchell - Clouds
you weirdos might like Advancer, Thrashcraft. Tuff Nites | Advancer
I love this track Tuff Nites. This is modular synth thrash from a true guitar hero of mine, John Cobbett of Ludicra / Hammers of Misfortune / VHOL. It’s bonkers video game thrash. He said he was trying to make a new Hammers of Misfortune record and this came out instead.
Very sad to learn that Todd Snider passed on today.
More Todd Snider. This time it’s the Hard Working Americans. Somehow snoozed on this a decade ago. Neal Casal and Dave Schools played in this band, too.
shifting gears to some seasonally appropriate black metal, two albums fucking me up right now -
Faidra - Six Voices Inside (for people who itch for something like Burzum but wanna steer clear of Nazis)
Lamp of Murmuur - The Dreaming Prince in Ecstasy (blackened death/thrash)
I’ve been digging this today too - chill Friday vibes abound!
MCIS 30th Anniversary… I feel old, but damn is this album amazing.
My listening today:
The Beatles - Abbey Road. Going to try and see Paul McCartney soon so Beatles are on the mind. The amount of Moog on this album only really hit me in the past year or so. Really subtle all things considered. Amazing that they were pioneering popular music right up to the very end.
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut. Beautiful album. Always been divisive but it haunts me. I think about it all the time.
Great minds!
I’m spinning Autobahn at preset!
No Ralf Hütter in this lineup.
Not sure if this is new or old hat to folks here, but I tripped over this album on Bandcamp recently and really liked it. Probably good for KGLW or Tame Impala fans.
Staring at the vinyl collection, about to make supper.
Wasn’t feeling anything in particular, so I hit ‘random’ on my discogs and MC5 - Back in the USA popped up.
I got hit with a flash of memory. I saw a map of Africa and the country of Angola. Angola Angola. That took me to a song with the name Angola, but this was Angola State Prison. Who was it? What was that song?
It was Junco Partner by James Booker, the Bayou Maharajah. Man I hadn’t listened to him in a decade! No reason why I should have ever forgotten him but it’s so good to be listening to him again. Anyone else know this guy?
Since doing research for our tour guide I’ve kind of been a little obsessed with Party Dozen
