Heilung are really good.
Loving the videos as much as the music!
Found myself listening to these a lot lately, Backstage is easily one of my albums of all time
Revisiting after a while:
Gong - Flying Teapot. Been in a Gong mood lately.
Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (2025 Remaster). The new remaster is good but the live tracks are where it’s at.
Thanks to my KGLW.net buddies for making this solid recommendation. I can think of lots of occasions when this would be a good fit. And it looks like there’s a new album coming.
This feels a bit like it does when you discover a great tv show right before the final season is released. All kinds of people have been waiting years for this but I only need to wait a week.
Week before last I went on a massive Gong kick. Ever check out the 2 or 3 albums from right after Daevid left? Pierre Moerlen takes over and the band turns into a fusion monster. They’re amazing records and I hardly ever hear them mentioned.
Currently spinning Jean-Luc Ponty’s Enigmatic Ocean. As usual, anything with Allan Holdsworth playing on it kicks ass!
I Never heard of this band. Just tossed on who will save the world and track one is
Fuxking sick. Huge catalog as well. I’m pumped to dive in
Richard Wright - Wet Dream. Really good solo album. Division Bell-esque at times. The Steven Wilson remix is solid.
I just recently got a CD copy of his album “Broken China,” but haven’t had time to listen to it yet. Looking forward to it, and will try this one as well.
Enjoy the dive! The earlier albums are more or less straight ahead blues (which is fine–no complaints), but starting with Thank Christ For the Bomb they begin a really strong streak of unique releases as a trio.
Spinning some prog-jazz this morning:
I finally took Reddit’s advice and tried out Doom Gong. The Gizz (and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets) influence is very obvious in the wide genres and sounds on the album but certainly has alot thats fresh to offer. Any heavier fan of Gizz is going to love Annihilator but there’s a few good tracks on this album, especially Perilious Rise > Annihilator and The Spiral Dance of Immient Doom. Each song flows into one another, so definetely better on the full listen.
Right now I’m listening to Folklore by Taylor Swift—perfect for chill vibes. I’ve also been revisiting Random Access Memories by Daft Punk for some electronic grooves.
Link Wray - Apache. Beautiful album.
For a hot Friday afternoon:
Lucid Planet. If you like bands like Tool and such, you should give them a try, great stuff. They often take time to slowly build up their songs.
