The King Gizz sub has gotten more and more toxic over the years, I’m honestly not sure why. Way more people just ready to fight and talk shit. I don’t think people realize you can downvote or ignore and move on. Every thread at all related to other bands just gets full of people saying “wtf does this have to do with Gizz”, yet any thread about someone selling shit is totally cool.
Anyways, I listened to that KEXP session this morning, super awesome sound! It looks like they are free in August, would love if they were in the second round of FoV additions!
I had a few negative experiences with Reddit and eventually gave up. Got tired of being random peoples’ punching bag.
(To be fair, one of those bad experiences was after I posted a digital illustration I did involving Drumpf and lyrics from "Loyalty” in a Gizz–related sub. Maybe that was too political for a music sub. But the other bad experiences kind of came out of nowhere in other subs. Just not a friendly place.)
This has just been the trend on Reddit unfortunately. Small forums and communities like this are the way to go! Although in rural areas where I am, Facebook groups still control alot of social interactions but I’ve loved the rise of Discord (the concept, not the company itself and all its fiascos) and what it has done for my hobbies and getting traditionally offline people online
Angine De Poitine Vol. II out now! The official YouTube video is missing Utzp for some reason (my new stand out) but find it on your favorite streaming service!
Sleepless night: I listened to the whole thing at 2 AM here lol. I didn’t catch tickets to the album party tonight but I do have some for their Montreal April 18th show (also supposedly an album party).
Hell yeah! All those MTL tix were super hard to get. Seeing them on Saturday at Brasserie Dunham like 30 mins south of Montreal, will report back on how the show goes!
AdP had Pitchfork and NY Times reviews today, they’re all over my news feed!
I still haven’t wrapped my head around ‘em. But at least I’m over the shock-and-awe aesthetics and focusing more on the music, which (much to my chagrin) should have been the case from the start.
I can’t copy/paste from beyond the paywall but here’s the NYTimes piece for those with access:
Just catching up on Doom Gong’s KEXP session. Really is great. The Gizz influence is strong but they definitely have their own thing going. I’m going to listen to a bunch more of these guys.
I really enjoyed the new AdP album too. Do you think they recorded it in their costumes? I assume so.
Boots On the Ground is an important piece of art. Thank you to Tom Waits for raising his voice. The video pairs stunning photography with a shocking dose of research on our sorrowful state of affairs in America. I hope it helps more people confront what is happening. We can’t keep turning our backs on this.
