That’s amazing – nice job on the photos!
That’s amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one so vivid. ![]()

Hiked up Mount Cardigan in New Hampshire yesterday. 5.5mi loop with about 2,000ft of elevation gain. Beautiful day for it – the fall colors were stunning!
(I’ve been pondering for months whether to write this post or not; even made up my mind at a certain point, but they were touring and no one loves vibe dampeners. But here we are. It goes like this:)
Gaia isn’t crying/bleeding/dying. Gaia is a 6 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 kg ball of rock and doesn’t even know we’re here – no more than we were acquainted with our microbiome in 1600.
Now imagine everything that lives was to suddenly disappear. Mind you, not just Homo sapiens: everything – all the animals, all the plants, all the fungi, all the bacteria and the archea, everything. Vanished into the air, gone.
I don’t think it hit the news in the US, but this morning I lost one of my 5cm hair. Proportionally, that’s been a bigger loss for me than the above imagined rapture would be for Gaia.
Now, with that in mind: there’s a beauty in climate change.
Gaia produced Homo around 2M years ago. In Africa. What skin color do you think the few tens of millions of survivors of global warming will have?
You know when that nasty (super)bug makes your head ache, your appetite disappear and your nose drip? Temperature goes up a bit and the parasite is gone.
Yeah.
Now, if you don’t mind, these drones don’t slowly evolve themselves.
So the point is… humans are the (super)bug?
Tens of millions of survivors? Sounds insanely optimistic. I see no beauty in humans failing to make the cut as a species. What do aliens call Fermi’s paradox? Because we’re about to hit that big wall here, folks.
and climate change is the fever.
The only difference being that the (super)bug may kill his host, while Homo sapiens can maybe “hope” to cause the loss of a hair.
It is optimistic.
Not the unimaginable loss, the suffering beyond comprehension. What I wrote about is a second chance, a humanity that goes back to square one. Another human evolution – this time, maybe, without assuming that the universe was created for us.
But, yeah, square one is not white folks. Bummer, I know.
Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta was cool.
Picked up a Drastic Plastic press of London ‘19 from Longhair Records while we were there. Spinning now.
Hoping I didn’t catch any Naegleria Fowleri, the brain-eating parasitic amoeba, up in the Spence Hot Springs, but I guess we’ll see.
Not a bummer anyways.
Bummer is “An error occurred: Sorry, you can’t embed media items in a post.”
So I can’t share a cool hot air balloon photo I took I guess.

Floating Along
Reminds me of The Matrix
IDGAF about skin color. Too hot to support human life applies equally to all humans last time I checked. It’s a nice dream though, can’t fault you for trying to deal with the situation in a positive way. I’ll be over in the corner raging against the dying of the light if anyone’s looking…
I’d happily go through the (few and confused) technical details. I honestly don’t know if this is the right thread, though – as far as I’m concerned, it’s fitting, but I assume this might not be everyone’s opinion.
But basically, the machine stops soon. Climate inequality means the workers go first. No workers, no work.
I mean, yeah, I get that. My only disagreement is I don’t believe humanity will survive at all this time. And honestly, I’m pretty bitter about it. I was raised to believe that we would get our shit together and overcome this obstacle but it isn’t happening. Maybe it’s living in the US and seeing this country elect a racist sexist pedophile who’s actively working against a solution at the time when even drastic action may be too little too late that’s driving it home for me, IDK. But to quote a great man, I got a bad feeling about this.
