Maybe a bit of an outlier, but hear me out:
-features members of the Grateful Dead
-sampled by the Beastie Boys (“Johnny Ryall”)
-numerous “Streets of Cairo” teases
Best new-to-me album I’ve heard so far in 2026 is Blue Phantom’s Distortions. Sounds like it could have been recorded this year but it’s from ‘71. Lots of fuzz, effected drums, and general psych goodness that smacks of early Gizz. This one CRUSHES.
