Its on!!!
The venue is seeking to amend their existing permit at a hearing Nov 10th with the County Commissioners. “To seek amendments to an existing multi-year special event permit, including but not limited to increasing maximum capacity to 12,500 attendees and expanding amplified sound allowances.”
Glad they’re planning it again! Not 100% sure I’ll go back for round three, will depend on the rest of the tour, but I’ll be watching from home if I don’t make it!
Goes without saying but: IN.
I’m right down the middle on this one, but I do want to try and attend as many as I can while they are happening. But I am hoping to do my first attempt at doing multiple dates on a single tour next year depending what they have planned.
I think regardless I will likely buy a wristband when they go on sale and sell at face value if I change my mind.
I’ll be there with a 40’ 5th wheel, I’m bring my own bathrooms this time.
Just curious – where did this message come from? Was there a pdoom e-mail?
Yeah, it was kinda hidden at the very bottom.
Interesting – I didn’t get an e-mail at all recently.
I’d really love to go, but it’s hard to make it work from the east coast. Options are driving (leaving the family with no car for 9 or 10 days), flying with camping gear (yuck), or Amtrak with camping gear (a slog in coach, impossibly expensive in a sleeper). Hitchhiking?
It’s one reason I have not done it, and I am waaaay closer. But it’s still a 14 hour drive, which is miserable on the way back.
If you’re flying to a fest you really need some friends that are driving you can camp with to make it work.
I don’t think more attendees will make it a better experience. More porta potties would however
Its a kick in the wallet, but flying with off-site accommodation and weeekend parking and/or local shuttle? Or one of the pre-set tents and then you just need to BYO food?
The off-site w/ weekend parking pass has worked really well for us both years, coming from the east coast.
I’ve thought about it, but I don’t think flying (which I don’t really enjoy anymore) plus hotel plus rental car or shuttle bus (Denver-Buena Vista) is going to fit in our budget next year, given some other things that are going on. (I don’t mean to sound whiny about budget stuff – it definitely seems worth the money if it’s available.)
I feel ya on the budget, its a big nugget for sure.
I’m curious to see if an incease in capacity is in line with demand. Was this year’s sellout an outlier due to lack of a full tour or indicative of what the standard will be going forward? Either way I’ll be there…
Past two years I have flown (direct flight from where I live thankfully, and was $300-400 both years), rental car, and AirBnb/Hotel and just walked in or took the free shuttle. The most expensive part by far is lodging, Thurs-Mon is $1,000 minimum to stay off site. That’s the big reason I’m on the fence, if I was close I’d camp but as others have said flying and camping is a PITA.
I think I paid $120/night for a room in Athens with a private balcony with a view of the Acropolis, and in Plovdiv I had a 3br apartment with two balconies walking distance to the venue/old city for $75 night… Hell even a room walking distance to Forest Hills was under $200/night.
So yeah, depending on where they play I may go, may go somewhere new. Unless you’re able to drive to BV it’s a pricey endeavor.
I’m curious too. It took a while for the whole thing to sell out – trying to think when that was, late June I think, a couple months before the shows? Also hard to say how much of a bump the presence of Angine de Poitrine had, given their massive virality… maybe not a whole lot but it certainly wasn’t zero based on all the polka dots I saw on Friday.
If anything, it could just be the venue trying to grow, too, regardless of whether or not they think they’d sell 12k tickets for fov3. IIRC they originally asked for 12k capacity for fov2 but that got shot down by the city, seems like that number is a goal of the promoters. Curious how big they think they could get if they continue to make improvements to the property each year… the wood chip hill on Cookie side was a new addition this year, and they might have the ability to move the stage back a bit as well and enlarge the field.
am i the only gizz fan who has absolutely zero interest in attending field of vision? ![]()
Yes, lol
