Forest Hills 2026 Anticipation Thread

So, people make fun of me for thinking about my trips way too far in advance. Which is fair, but also I get nerdy fun out of trip planning and figuring out how to get places, etc. More fun than work…

So I’m going to try to do this trip entirely by train and local transit. My wife and I are going to visit a friend in CT a few days before the shows via Amtrak, and then I’ll split off and catch trains from CT to Forest Hills. It’ll be really nice not to have to worry about driving.

Here’s the WS link to the 3-day meetup: Forest Hills 2026 - King Gizzard Community Meetup in Queens, NY | Weirdo Swarm

On the first day, I’m not sure if I’ll have time to make it to the meet-up before the lines start to form at the stadium. (I need to stash my stuff at the hotel first.) But I’ll try, and should be able to get there easily the other two days.

Anyway, I’m really looking forward to the shows, and to seeing folks there.

I’m driving there from IL. Making a quick stop in Cleveland and then going right to Queens. Haven’t been to a meetup since 2023 so I’m excited to see what its like. The FH meetups always seem pretty good.

It’s down to a month before we head out for the Forest Hills shows, and I’m really looking forward to getting on that train, leaving all the work stuff behind, and just enjoying the trip.

The good news is that I was able to change my tickets, so I’ll get to Queens the night before the first show, instead of getting there that afternoon. So things should be a lot more relaxed, and I can make it to the first day of the Cobblestones meetup.

Before we head out, I’ll probably start a trip-to-Queens photo thread that anybody’s welcome to add on to.

love the idea of a travel pics thread.

What’s everyone planning during the days?

First day I’ll just be getting into town and going to the meet up.

One day I’ll go to Manhattan and see The Guggenheim, then go down to my favorite bar The Blind Tiger, and hit up some shops.

One day thinking of exploring Queens more - I went to Flushing last year with my buddy and we did a little food tour that was amazing, especially hot pot. Anyone have any other Queens recs for sights, museums, food, drink, parks, etc.?

Then on Sunday I’m planning to hang in Brooklyn for the day, I’ve wanted to hit up Sey for coffee, I think they may be a bit hype-y but heard they’re one of the top places for coffee nerds. I’ll either hit up Roberta’s or a similar place for some Pizza and then Threes and/or Grimm for a couple pre-rave beers!

Haven’t really planned past the first day yet. At least I can go to the Thursday meet-up now, but I still want to get to the stadium early enough that afternoon to grab a good spot and then head for the poster line. If I can get posters the first day, I won’t have to worry about that the rest of the time.

My wife might come into NYC one of the other days to meet up with college friends, so I’m kind of leaving those days open (except for going to the meetups) until I hear more about that.

FWIW, N1 last year I got in line 45 mins early, immediately went to merch, got both posters and the football jersey, then got a seat pretty much dead center 3-4 rows back. I was solo that night so it’s easier to find a good seat if you’re just one…

N2 we had some fast access my friend got through work so we showed up just after doors and didn’t have a line. I got us two seats a little bit further back, and he was able to go get the N2 poster no problem and was back in our seats before the opener came on.

So hopefully they just do a big run of posters again so it’s not a problem. I do wonder if Jason will do a triptych or 3 colorways… I don’t think they’ve ever done a triptych but the diptych from last year looks amazing together.

Thanks for the reality check. And yeah, I can imagine that those two posters mounted side-by-side would look great!

I am going solo, so I’m hoping to put my old-man seat pad down in a good spot and then go to the poster line. I’m not too bothered if I have to hear the first part of the Die Spitz set from the merch line.

I’m amtraking down from Boston. Hoping to catch Thursday’s show but we’ll just have to see how things work out at my job, given the preceding week+ of PTO for FoV. 100% in for Fri/Sat/Sun though. Hotel in Long Island City, nicely positioned between the two venues.

Will definitely try and hit up at least 1 of the meet-ups. Would love to say hi in person with you all! Unlike FoV which is family vacation w/ wife & kiddo, I’ll be solo for this run and in a much better position to get to the meetups.

Not quite sure what I want to do during the days, I may not try and pre-plan anything and just let inspiration strike. A good friend who lives in Brooklyn had a baby 2 weeks ago so I may bring them a meal and visit a bit with them. But otherwise I’m free to fly!

The excitement is real and growing by the day!

Yeah, I’m Amtrakking, too, from VA up to CT with my wife, and then solo via Metro North/LIRR to Queens.

I’m also really looking forward to the meetups, although I’m such a hermit that I hope I remember how to talk to people.

Flying in from Boise. Staying with buddies from WA and Mass. The stoke is getting real, been really busy with other summer events, so it’s just starting to hit that it is near!

No plans yet other than hitting Other Half day 1 for beers. Definitely want to head into the city to explore a little, only been to NYC once before.

Looks like I may have a 3 day floor pass, some friends have bailed. I’ll post it later if none of my friends grab it.

I went to the meetup last year and it was fun, a bit chaotic (part of the charm I suppose!) but lots of cool art, some decent beer options taboot! I’ll plan to stop in N1 if I get into the city with enough time.

Stopping at Suarez Brewing on my way down, always part of my NYC pilgrimages, one of the best breweries in America IMO.

Friends… I’m checking back in here after way too long away. I am so pumped for FH. Will be stying with family in Jersey City and meeting some college friends for the shows, but otherwise a free agent looking to hang with fellow Swarm as much as possible. Will definitely hit the meet-up at least once. Psyched for these shows.

Whaaaaaaat? You would be crazy to miss out on any second of Die Spitz, they are brilliant. I saw them live this year, great show.

I may be crazy whatever happens  but I’ll try to catch as much of them as I can. It’s not that I don’t like their music – it just didn’t hit me as an instant favorite. But seeing them live may change that. (Also, I’m very glad to see all-female bands like Die Spitz and La Luz getting opener opportunities at Gizz shows.)

Friends, what time do folks usually start lining up for FH?

8am

Just 1 picture from their show:

So don’t be crazy.
