you have to leave the line and go ‘into town’ for a bathroom. people are very polite about holding your spot though.
the last time we got in line early for a fh show, it was around 1130a and there were maybe 15 people in front of us. by the time doors opened, there were like 35 people ahead of us in line. we didn’t make the rail. i yelled at a few folks who were trying to cut the line near us and they fucked off, but they just scootched down the line until they could cut in front of some less aggressive fans. if people try to cut me, i will embarrass them in front of everyone in ear shot.
these nyc shows might be my last ones in the u.s. the disrespectful behavior really gets me down.
I guess one of the “advantages” of being old and having bad feet is that you don’t have to worry about getting there in time to run to the front. I want to get reasonably far up in line, but only to grab a good spot in the seats.
I was there 45 mins before doors on N1 last year and got a solid seat in the bowl.
Rail people in the US are crazy, I don’t even bother. When I was in Denmark & Sweden last year it was totally different. Showed up 30 mins before doors, got a poster, and got rail. Wasn’t even trying to get rail just a poster and show up early to hang with people. Gotta say it was cool to be on the rail but you def need to hold your space once the music starts, a couple people tried to literally pull me off the rail to take my spot…
Honestly much happier to be a bit further back to take in the lights, overall vibes, less crowd, more dance room.
Legend.
That’s fair, man. I feel like Swarm is better about shit like that than most fan bases, at least.
My brain is gonna be mush by FH time. Flying back to ME from CO on Monday, flying down to Newark on Wednesday. Staying at my mother-in-law’s in NJ and training back and forth all three FH nights.
Considering I just turned 65 I should probably get my affairs in order before leaving for FOV. ![]()
That’s a lot of traveling!
(Hey, your avatar is the poster from my first show!)
And here I was at 42 yo being a little intimidated at the thought of flying back to Boston from CO on Monday and then amtraking down to forest hills on Thu and staying a hotel nearby for the run.
I’ve got nothing on what you’re doing! Way to get after it!
We go where the thrills are! I’m pretty sure I’ll barely be ambulatory when this is all over.
Originally we were gonna drive to NJ but we figured that was just too much.
We sure do. What part of Maine are you in? I grew up in coastal Maine went to Mount Desert Island High School.
Cape Elizabeth. On the coast just below Portland.
Lovely area. Was just noticing today that the Portland Hearts of Pine are building a new ~10k seat stadium in Portland. Kinda hope it could double as a music venue some day!
Yeah it’s great here. Pretty much my favorite part of America. Though living at sea level means I definitely need a scrip for Diamox to enjoy the 9000 foot elevation at FOV. (Worked like a charm last year.)
we could use a larger venue here. The civic center only holds 8k. Though seeing many Dead shows there in the 80s was pretty sweet. The northeast has some tiny-ass arenas!
Inner Cell > Loyalty > Horology has not been played in NYC since Summerstage 2019.
Here’s to hoping we get it at Forest Hills.
The Horology demo from Demos 1+2 URGENTLY needs the Nathan treatment…
Here’s to hoping we get it at Forest Hills.
That would be a huge high point of the shows for me. “Inner Cell” has been a big personal favorite, and I’ve never heard the trilogy live.
And since I’ve probably cursed the already-low likelihood of Magenta Mountain being played there this year with my doofy t-shirt designs
, I’m really going to hope for this to happen. ![]()
First time seeing Gizz and I’m hitting all 4 shows in NYC! I’m psyched! And a little nervous. I’m a bit neurotic, awkward, semi-(invisibly)-disabled depending on how the day treats me, and going solo.
How early do people tend to line up at FHS? How’s the experience of going it alone? How about at the WS meetups? I’d love to get rail on the left side for at least one of the rock shows, but I’ve seen conflicting experiences. I used to line up all day for NIN shows decades ago, but I think my max is probably 3 hours early before my body will hate me lmao.
can’t help with lining up, but awkardness solidarity
bump
Zero interest in waiting in any sort of line. We have floor tickets, will enjoy the town and stroll in a little before show time and just see where we wind up.
Can’t wait!
Also, my extra 3 day floor pass is officially offered to anyone here that is in need. Think face $ was 310, need to look that up.
