First timer--Hello!

Hello! I have become obsessed with this band over the past two years and finally have a chance to join the Weirdo Swarm on Monday in Boston. I cannot contain my excitement. Looking up setlists from the first two nights of this tour, I found this page and am glad to see there is a community for this incredible band. My buddy bailed on me for the show, but I cannot miss it, so I’m going solo. I’ll be the gray-haired 40-something white male wearing a yellow Khraungbin shirt and cargo shorts, if you see me and want to chat music or Gizz fandom before or after the performance. Cheers!

Have seen twice; second time was last Saturday at Hollywood Bowl.

Thoroughly enjoy.

How many Gizz shows have you attended?

I’m going to get Boston and Portland, and wish I coulda made these two Forest Hills nights work.

That’s fantastic! When was your first?

Favorite songs / genres?

My first was 2019 in Austin right after Fishies and Rats Nest came out. I’m into pretty much every genre they’ve dabbled in but a couple favorites are Magma, Magenta Mountain, and God is in the Rhythm

Word. Austin is a great music city. I wish I had been pursuing KGLW back then.

I don’t dig the metal at home, but I am certain I will love it live.

I’m most excited to see how they work with each other live, as I’ve never had much access to live streams until I discovered this site yesterday when searching for set lists.

I really hope I get a This Thing in Boston or Portland. I’m not sure whether I should be encouraged or discouraged that they played jt last night.

Welcome to the party ! This place rules as well as our scene ! I’m typing this out with a full heart after my first two shows in Forest Hills.

Enjoying some delicious food over here in Queens and making our way north to Boston then to Portland. Last night was so much fun.

Had tears in my eyes for silhouette, chills down my spine for the MOtU stuff and the petro through great fucking chain is all so sick. This band is fucking ferocious

The metal in a live setting is some of the most powerful, energy charged, music ever. once it hits and creeps up your spine while the madness of Stu’s lyrics and searing guitars pushes it all even further I tend to question if I just might actually self immolate in that moment. You will love it.

This thing probably won’t come out again in Boston or Portland but I don’t know shiiiiiit

See you in Boston and Portland

Hot damn I am pumped. I was originally going to be attending these last two shows but those plans didn’t work out, so I rallied around these next two. I’m so into this band that my wife actually agreed to watch our kids for two days so I could do this. Been obsessed with them for about two years now and this is the first chance I’ve really had to catch them live.

What was your time between catching the Gizz bug and finally seeing them on Friday?

I’ve watched the live videos posted here from DC and Friday. It’s funny, I tend not to dig on the metal stuff when I’m just listening at home or in the car, but live, it looks like straight fire and I know I’m gonna dig it. My buddy in DC caught his first show and said exactly that: he skips the metal on Spotify, but at the show, the energy behind those songs was tops.

Say hi if ya see me there, man. I need to get to know some Swarm who love these guys as much as I do!

I just made it back from my run of D.C. and Forest Hills. That experience was well worth the wait from my last show in Chicago '23. In the interim, I’ve come to know the band so much better by listening obsessively and working on this website that I felt so at home during the shows. The whole time it just was like, yup this is the place for me.

I appreciate the work on this website! I’ve gone down the song histories wormhole; kinda fascinating that there are so many that haven’t been played live.

My favorite bands are always ones that bring a unique live experience—rather than trying to replicate their albums—and I can’t wait to see how KGLW does this.

Piggybacking on your post as another first timer! Been into the band since 2016 but just discovered this forum. Looking forward to taking it all in and hopefully contributing to discussions. Currently only have plans to attend one show this tour but sure appreciate the streams and eventual bootlegs we’ll get from these! :v:

I’m in OKC and that’s the only one I could swing for now. Sure hoping to follow over to Fayetteville at least though.

Fuck yeah I did!!! This Thing, the whole Mind Fuzz cycle, Dripping Tap, and Le Risqué were my hopes… and I looked at all the song histories and figured at best, I’d get one (but did not care—they can metal the fuck out all show and I still love how they jam anything).

And they all hit.

I usually dance all show (any show—I do a lot of music—mostly Phish but any band that jams out any genre I will go see) and so I’m not always watching the stage and I don’t take many pics, but then I see a crowd surfer coming at me and the bouncing inflatable dragon behind him so I snap 7 seconds of film and then all of sudden all hell is breaking loose because that surfer was Stu and he comes down off the crowd right in front of me (cuz I’m in dance area, not packed in crowd) and I put my hand on his shoulder (I didn’t know what to do!) and then he runs towards the ocean to dive in and OH MY GOD THAT WAS AN EPIC SHOW CLOSING DRIPPING TAP.

I’m thumbing this out on my phone write now but this week I’m going to type up my two show experience (I enjoy writing—I’m an English teacher) and submit it here as a fan review. I’ve got a little time before the school year starts and I really want to contribute to this community.

THIS BAND IS SO FUCKING GOOD THEY ARE MY NEW NUMBER ONE AND I AM REPRIORITIZING MY LIFE SO I CAN GET MORE GIZZ
