I mean, I definitely donā€™t want anyone to leave, butā€¦

I would be super curious to hear what the ensuing lineups could sound like. I always enjoyed digging into the various eras of the Dead. In the same vein, itā€™d be real interesting to see what adding/removing band members could do to Gizz both in studio and live, I think.

None of them, hopefully.
That being said, I noticed that in the years just before Eric left, his involvement on their albums (PMDB and Polygondwanaland particularly) was quite minimal, a thing which Iā€™m also noticing with Lucas on their recent albums. Doesnā€™t necessarily mean heā€™ll leave, but heā€™d be my first guess.

I definitely canā€™t imagine anyone parting on anything but amicable terms. At a Gizz Q & A I went to a few years ago, they were asked if the band was ever likely to break up, and they were very certain in their reply of ā€œnoā€.

It would definitely be very interesting if any of the main creative forces in the band left (as in, Amby, Joey or Stu). I canā€™t see this happening in the next 10 years, though (thankfully)

See, the thing is, this isnā€™t the type of band where members get tired of it, feel like they could do better on their own, get pissed at each other over petty bullshit, all the typical rock ā€˜nā€™ roll cliches. Theyā€™re not, like, a bunch of musicians who formed a band to make money or whatever, theyā€™re all friends who happen to be musicians that formed a band which became successful beyond anything they ever dreamed of. Why would any of them leave that?

Not to be argumentative, but I feel like Lucas is more involved than ever. Debut lead vocals on newest release, for example. He also has been giving more and more interviews.

Yeahā€¦ I definitely donā€™t think it would be on bad terms or anything (or even anytime soon).

Judging on Cavsā€™ solo album, his appearance at Drumtek 2022 and his interview with Modern Drummer, he is a driving creative force within the band, for some strange reason just not noticed as much as some of the other. However, his drumming really shines and without it King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard would be quite a bit away from what they are now.

My post before was meant to be a reply.

Ah yeah, Iā€™d forgotten about his role in Flight b741. I was thinking more about albums such as Changes and Butterfly 3000 where he didnā€™t perform at all, and Omnium Gatherum where he performed only on one song. Definitely a crucial member at this point though.

I agree, I canā€™t see Cavs leaving any time soon

delete this thread, hang those who replied anything different from ā€œnobodyā€ and leave their bodies to swing in the wind in a public space

then, King Gizzard will make a concept album (2xLP) out of the matter

lol - i think u should leave now and let the adults debate.

Of course.
But then thereā€™s suspension of disbelief, right? I mean, if someone wants to.

So, hear me: no one will leave the band.
More: in ten or so years, their children will start joining them on stage, until thereā€™ll be a complete turnover.
You say the Dead (and pretty much every other band we know of, actually).
I say Gong Family ā€“ but with actual relatives.

But Iā€™ll leave it to the adults.
