What album are you listening to right now?

I posted this just some days ago:

Also listen to some metalcore sometimes, there is good music in pretty much any genre. And it doesn’t really matter if others like it or not, so just post whatever.

I love that he did the stuff he wanted to do, no matter what fan expectations might be. This is a wonderful album, true Iggy Pop.

Jeff Wayne - Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds. I never thought I’d fall in love with a prog rock adaptation of War of the Worlds but here I am.

I’m definitely into metal so you’ll have at least one supporter in me. Keep bringin the heavy!

This sounds AWESOME. Very much up my alley.

Right now I’m finishing up my second pass through Who Will Save The World? by The Groundhogs. Here’s a band I’ve heard about for a few years now without truly exploring but I wish that I had sooner. This is some awesome heavy/blues psych with a raw edge that really scratches an itch for me. The lyrics are creepy and apocalyptic as well. Great stuff.

So I hit play on this and within 2 seconds I was reminded of this lost gem that I haven’t thought of in years. Not sure why lol, it’s not really what I’d call heavy at all.

That’s a GREAT one, and kind of mysterious too. The guy who made it seems to wish it never existed.

Yeah, didn’t he like drop out of society and move to the middle of nowhere to raise goats or something like that?

I heard somewhere that his son was the American who joined up with the Taliban. Wild stuff.

I’ve been listening to Bill Fay today. This was the first song of his I heard, and it feels more relevant now than ever before. RIP.

Roberta Flack - First Take. Decided to give some of her discography a spin after her passing today as she’s an artist I just never got around to. Philm recommended this one and I’ve been hooked instantly.

Paul Pena, self-titled.

Holy cow, it’s been a while since an album hit me this hard. Just total raw talent and goodness. Pena started in blues and gospel and recorded two great albums, the second of which featured Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders but was blocked by Bob Dylan’s manager (gross, man!) but eventually released (New Train). Pena later released a film and album about Tuvan throat singing. Can’t wait to check that out!

They still got it.

Every once in awhile a song appears and it just speaks to me. The rest of the album is excellent too.

Here are some albums I’ve been listening to to over the past few days:

Yes - Close To The Edge (1972): I only discovered it a few weeks ago, but it’s already one of my favourite albums.

King Crimson - Islands (1971): Lots of great songs (especially the title track), very underrated album

Getdown Services - Crisps (2023): Very different to both Gizz and the two mentioned above, but a very good “angry album”

Marcus Eoin’s (Boards of Canada) Campfire Mixtape

I just recently re-discovered Monoral:
