If you like the Moog, this is the perfect album for you.
They released 2 albums, so there’s another one left.

Nice!
They’re playing a relatively small local fest next summer as well (which also includes Folk Bitch Trio) in Greenfield, MA
Nomeansno finally added the rest of their catalog to the digital realm and Sex Mad is getting a vinyl reissue. I own most of the good stuff on physical formats but it is nice to have them more broadly represented and convenient.
Maria Asahina - Maria. Good city pop album with some big names in the roster like Yellow Magic Orchestra and Tatsuro Yamashita. Pretty much the only release to her name besides a single for the film Arcadia of My Youth (which reminds me I have to get into the Leijiverse at some point).
Woke up pissed this morning. Pissed at what, or for what reason, I have no idea.
But the opening horn lines of this snapped me right out of it. Literally like flipping a light switch. Go figure.
Thanks for the rec, Timeland! Gonna be a disco soundtrack to the workday, I think.
Rush - A Farewell to Kings. Big step forward for them artistically. Whole album is great but the first side is perfect.
I was mainly a Moving Pictures and Subdivisions fan for quite a while, but Grace Under Pressure is also a great album, when I have the mental fortitude to deal with the darker lyrics.
Currently making my through The Quietus’ top 100 of the year. I think they have the most diverse and interesting list each year and I’ve found some excellent stuff there over the years. Maybe you will too!
Kinks - Village Green Preservation Society
A rare start-to-finish perfect album for me. Not a wasted note.
This has been road-trip/train-trip music for us for a long time. ![]()
Arthur Russell - Calling out of Context
In particular, this one is hauntingly beautiful yet wonderfully bouncy
ATW is one of my top must-see bands, esp. since they only make it out to the west coast every 2-3 years lately. Been following them for a while; they’ve always been awesome but seem to have seriously stepped up their game this tour. Definitely highly recommended. I’ve had this show on heavy rotation pretty much since it dropped on YT.
Various - Soul Christmas. Never heard it until today but its a really good collection of tracks.
Young Stu:
I Am the Resurrection: A Tribute to John Fahey
Wore the CD out a decade ago. Found the vinyl (sealed) yesterday and couldn’t be happier. To be honest, tribute albums rarely feel like cohesive projects to me, but this is a delightful exception. The performances all lovingly summon the Fahey sound and vibe. Essential for me. A favorite cut that still gives me chills:
Haven’t kept up with The Quietus in a long time, but this list looks very interesting. I think I pretty much only know the #1 so maybe I should try this too.
Holiday gift card purchase that turned out really, really well:
The Dreamers (John Zorn) - The Gentle Side of the Dreamers
A perfect palate cleanser after 11/10/25 Berlin, it just so happens.
Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Syd would have been 80 today so I’ve had a few of his records on.
Nice, I’ll have to spin some Syd later. Right now I’m playing the Levitation pressing of Demos 7 & 8 that arrived in today’s mail. Sounding mighty fine.
