we went to TAB show friday night after seeing KGLW at caves and red rocks. the crowd and music was so different it unfortunately made us realize we would prefer to not be associated with the PHiSH community anymore…
went saw String cheese at red rocks at few years back it was the most heady beautiful sparkle rainbow people everywhere. went to dicks like 2 months later and felt like i was surrounded by 20,000 homeless drug addicts… it was really sad for me too because i grew up in this community and have made some of my best phriends there. decided if im going to chase a dragon its going to be KGLW for me
I will be there, could be their last one! Wouldn’t miss it for the world and hope Gizz has orbital shows because I likely won’t make any of the ones announced so far
I saw TAB last night in Harrisburg and had a way better time than I expected. I was under the impression that Trey would play mostly his own songs, but the show I saw was almost all Phish tunes. Really fun show all the way through, even in the pouring rain.
Due to recent personal events I might actually try to hit this fest, but its a long way away from Miami and along time from now. Also could be the last Phish festival.
A lot of Phans on here are old school phans. Fall 95 was my only big Phish tour outing, but been phan evrr since.
Agreed, I’m currently in this pickle. If Gizz releases more East Coast dates I may give up both of my Forest Hill tickets. Which is sad bc I really want to see a Marathon show. Might just have to go to Chicago instead.
Not posting this in the Phish forum? Why ever not?
I’ve never seen one person get that angry about someone asking for directions, much less that many people, lol.
Oh yeah. Basically you have to own a car here or you’re fucked. It’s almost like someone from the auto industry had a hand in planning it or something…
I’m a long time Phish fan who never skips Phish festivals. Gizzard’s 2024 Forest Hills announcement followed by the Phish Fest announcement barely 20 minutes later was hilariously painful. I still intend to see as many Gizz shows as possible next year. My Gorge & Austin marathon tix are already locked down. I don’t plan to stop seeing Phish but nowadays my desire to see live Gizzard is gobbling up a lot of my live music budget. Gizzard is only the 3rd band after the Grateful Dead and Phish that I’ve hopped on a plane for.
I sure hope so. The AMA mentioned a Boston date, which is very near me. Fingers crossed that dosen’t also conflict with Phish Fest.
I’ll be at the Phish festival. Wish we could swing the Gizz shows right after it but it’s not in the cards. This will be my 8th Phish festival but my first since 2009.
Which one did you miss prior to ‘09?
I’m in the same boat only made 4. I’m still undecided about Dover.
Any American based airline is going to dick you around. Even the “better” airlines like Southwest in the US have really fallen off in my opinion. I like AirFrance to get across the pond but thats because my work lets me upgrade.
My experience has been that as long as you dont go budget (Spirit, Frontier, etc. I dont even know how many of them do international), you get basically the same experience these days from most of the major players. I fly domestically on just about every US based airline AA included (but stay away from budget).
To me it seems down to the plane you get. Almost every international flight with have screens for inflight entertainment but its iffy domestically. Beyind that, its really whatever airlines credit card you get for the best upgrades, lounges, whatever. Delta has the best lounges IMO.
Only other times I’ve flown to Europe were on Lufthansa and Iceland Air.
Idk if this helps lol
See you on Gizz tour then! Lol
Kidding, but yeah its been crazy… That’s why I try to camp/go to cities I have friends in. With passes skyrocketing (my buddy tried to get me to go to Sick New World: $600 for a one day pass?!), it cuts into travel and lodging budgets.
I bought two one way flights for less than $100 to the beginning and end of my Gizz tour cities and then $80 train tickets between stops. And I bribe my friends to let me stay with tbem for free tickets lol.
Obviously for our European friends its a bit tougher to travel on a budget.
When I went to Curveball (RIP) I just bought a cheap tent/gear at Wal-Mart online and scheduled it for pickup at the one closest to the airport. No intention of keeping it, was just going to leave it at the festy grounds. Pretty sure it was less than $200 for everything.
This is the way, although I was never a fan of the waste I always see on Monday mornings after fests. Walmart has tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads that will last the weekend but not much longer.
Good point, I think the thing to do is still pack everything up so if anyone wants it they can just grab it, and if not it’s easier for whoever is cleaning up.
I’m a vulture: people leave some crazy stuff. I’ve gotten full size coolers, tents, chairs… you name it.
Nice. As long as you didn’t get anything from a chick named Lisa that is, lol.
