Orchestral Tour: how does it work?

I saw the orchestra show in Den Bosch, enjoyed it so much.

I was wondering how they do it: a tour with different orchestras. I believe the musicians never saw Gizz before in real live and they play by reading notes. How long before do they practice on the songs? Did they ever met conductor Chad Kelly? Is playing in an orchestra a universal language where the musicians can play with every conductor? Who decides the rhythm when on stage?

I need to know everything about this!

How long before do they practice on the songs?

probably not very long. these people are trained to play what’s on the page without much practice

Is playing in an orchestra a universal language where the musicians can play with every conductor?

basically, yes, they are all prolific sight-readers

Who decides the rhythm when on stage?

The reason they kept the setlist the same is because they sent each different orchestra the same set of compositions. They wrote/composed the parts for each instrument (or maybe were helped by Sarah Hicks, I’m not sure) and hey, violin sheet music can be interpreted the world round by any fluent artist.

I was in Den Bosch as well and had much of your same questions. I had fun paying attention at the game of glances on stage - a lot of that is visible in the streams.
Anyway, the answers came promptly.
