Yeah absolutely, I do feel like if it were at least officers just dressed in the bare minimum I’d feel a little less tense than full riot gear. I’d be willing to wager there’s at least a percentage of “well we have the gear so we need to use it “ sort of justification, wrapped in “well there’s a lot of people and what if what if what if”.
But that said, yeah police being nearby but the presence not being felt around every corner would be ideal if we have to work with them at all, which is non negotiable in the system we live with. But these plans for next year do have me optimistic.
