it’s funny how they say “3 year” but it’s really ONE year cuz if it gets fucked up it’s over.

LOL

Get over it, you have a fuckin’ gun and none of us caused any problems!

On Sunday I remember walking by a long line of cops and some drunk person was screaming at them “FUCK YOU YOU ARE NEVER NIIICE” and I got a good laugh out of that.

Poor piggies.

Sure, its part of the job to put up with people saying stuff to you as a public safety officer, especially when it comes to art and artistic expression that is designed to be provocative (i.e. stuff coming from the stage).

I think I may be in the minority here but I’d argue a music fest is maybe not best place to make it personal and yell “f you” at the nearest cop who is just there to respond to an emergency and protect us if god forbid something were to necessitate that. Seems like there are better places and more effective routes to affect positive change in policing/public safety.

To each their own, but given the fact that there were no incidents for them to respond to, I’m not going to pretend they provided safety that paramedics/fire dept and staff weren’t already doing. I only felt tension from others when cops were roaming around.

But I also don’t want to start any arguments or debates, I’m just going off what I saw.

That’s a totally fair point and I respect you and your thoughts, not looking to start anything beyond an exchange of ideas and perspectives either :+1:

Personally, I wish that all the tactical gear a lot of cops had on wasn’t as in your face within the concert venue as it was in a few spots. On the other hand, I can understand why they might have been told that was the gear that they needed to have at the event. No easy answers here. I too wish there was a way where they could be invisible until an event that required them … and it actually sounds like that might be the case for next year, with more on-site private security but with the professionals at the ready off site. Hopefully that happens!

Yeah absolutely, I do feel like if it were at least officers just dressed in the bare minimum I’d feel a little less tense than full riot gear. I’d be willing to wager there’s at least a percentage of “well we have the gear so we need to use it “ sort of justification, wrapped in “well there’s a lot of people and what if what if what if”.

But that said, yeah police being nearby but the presence not being felt around every corner would be ideal if we have to work with them at all, which is non negotiable in the system we live with. But these plans for next year do have me optimistic.

Now Gizz fans, we just gotta behave ourselves accordingly like last year

Yeah, the tactical gear was a bit much… I was at a Phish show in MA last year and outside the venues the cops were in camo, bullet proof vests, and had assault rifles… coming out of a show all buzzy and high and then seeing a bunch of pretend soldiers waving machine guns around was NOT cool.

But, whatever we need to have a good time, I didn’t see any bad interactions with cops so that’s good. Hopefully we can all keep it chill again and the band keeps the volume at the same level!
