Gizzard of Aus

After the 2026 Australia shows were announced I realised we have no general thread on the topic. Anyone else here planning on going?

Timing, budget, and lifestyle are feeling more back in sync for it so I went ahead and got a ticket for the Croxton Block Party on Saturday. Sydney is closest and most familiar, but I did that for the December shows last year (plus Wednesday, really?), and Thirroul is not an option, so Melbourne it is. Will be my first time seeing them at home so I’m looking forward to that, and I always enjoy visiting there anyway.

Caught me a little off guard these shows.

Got a 2 day pass for the shows in Melb, but have a wedding on the Saturday night so will miss their set unfortunately. Excited for the whole event really, glad I live in their home town

Anyone here going to the Cavs memento show tomorrow night at Hamer hall?

I wish, did you? Great venue for it. I’ve heard surprisingly little from anyone who was there. I guess Hear My Eyes has a decent audience outside of Gizz fans.

Yeah, it was a good night. Certainly an interesting experience. I think Cavs toed the line really well of giving you enough of a show that you got your money’s worth but didn’t take over the actual film viewing experience.

Caught his drumstick when he threw it out to the crowd so I was pretty stoked with that

I’m thinking about doing the Sydney shows as I live in Brisbane, but being middle of the week isn’t great for scheduling… Hoping that we get a Brissy show sometime soon.

Yeah Brisbane would be my first choice these days. Pretty weird for them not to, especially with Thirroul in there lol

What’s the weather like in mid October?

Depends where you’re planning on visiting. Weather is starting to warm up in Melbourne and is mostly pleasant, however, October is also our wettest month of the year. Other than that vibes are usually high.

Thanks.
I’m considering flying in for the Gizz shows. I’ve got a big birthday coming up and Sydney falls on the day so I thought I’d give it a try. Putting everything into going for it!

Skipped all the US shows to try and make it happen. Looks on track at the moment.

Awesome! Yeah Spring and Autumn are both good times, Sydney is similar for the wet weather that time of year and I will add that the rain can come and go very suddenly which people don’t often expect.

Anyone have any experience taking public transport from Sydney to Thirroul and back? Wondering if it’s best to stay the night after the show in Thirroul or if transportation is possible late night?

Thanks!!

I’ve never done it, but I doubt it’s easy getting back the same night. Either way you’re in for a slow and inconveniently timed bus/train.
