Thanks for passing that on – not great news, but it’s good to know.

FWIW I heard this as well through the grapevine.

Dang. The tea leaves seem to be pointing in the same direction for next year, between this and the scuttlebut from a new england promoter that someone ran into at the Forest hills shows, too.

Hope that doesn’t mean tix for FoV 26 tix are going to be a shitshow. Given beuna vistas remoteness, it would seem that would be unlikely, though now that the secret is out it’ll certainly sell faster this time one would think

Good chance it’ll sell out if it happens this year, but if you buy tix the day they go on sale, shouldn’t be a problem.

Odd question – at FOV, is there an area of the main stage venue (at the back, I’d assume) where people use camp chairs?

(The reason I ask is that 3 nights of standing gives my bad foot problems – I had surgery on it, and need to get more. It’s not super likely that I can make FOV next year, but still thinking about it.)

They don’t allow camp chairs in the main venue but I saw people with telescoping stools that collapse into a disc with a carrying strap.

OK –thanks, yeah, I’ve seen those.

Saw the telescoping stools as well. Honestly, you could reach out to the ADA services for the venue and ask for some accommodation on the seating platform. Inability to stand for long periods without pain sounds like exactly the kind of thing that the venue is required to accommodate. There’s even an ADA camping area and ADA day parking area.

At Boston Calling (my first kglw show!), my wife was in a walking boot and so we used the ADA platform after emailing them in advance. I was chatting up an older fellow with a similar situation as you who said “I’m just old and need to sit periodically. I usually just email in advance and just about every venue I’ve been to has been very accomodating”. We had a similar walking boot situation at Red Rocks as well and were able to use the ADA parking area. I’ve been pleasantly surprised how easy/smooth a process it is to coordinate that kind of thing.

It’s a bit uncomfortable asking for ADA-level accommodations when you have something less impactful than a true disability. That said, we really appreciated when the 9:30 Club and the Atlantis in DC found places for us to sit when my wife was dealing with a pinched-nerve issue that made standing for the length of a show really unworkable. But I always tried to make sure they understood that we didn’t want to take a space from someone who needed a wheelchair space or something like that.

Totally feel where you’re coming from on this. Worse comes to worse, if you were end up getting a wristband to use the ADA platform and get the sense that you don’t need it or there are others who need it more, the backup plan is a collapsible stool in normal GA. For example, when my wife had the walking boot, the ADA platform was populated on a first-come basis and a companion was also allowed to be on the platform. If it had filled up, companions would have been asked to move.

Just my two cents but perhaps there is no need to feel guilty or stigmatize yourself about requesting accommodation for yourself, ya know? IMO what you describe is exactly the kind of situation where it would be 100% appropriate to use an ADA section. Just one person’s opinion though.

Yeah, I think you’re right, as long as people who are able are ready to give way to somebody with a more acute need.

(Great, now I’ve “acute need” >>> “UQT” in my head…..earworms. )

We saw 2 people with low camp chairs on the hill Friday night. We had the same kind back at camp. They pack down pretty small into a bag. We were able to bring them into the main venue Saturday and Sunday with no problems. I don’t think security even asked what they were.

There is also a handful of small boulders at the back of the treed area at the bottom of the hill. The left 3 actually have a pretty good view of the stage and one has a nice butt groove.
