Hello gator gang. I saw a post on reddit where someone mentioned that the band played 2-set shows in 2017. I saw 4 shows that year, none of which had 2 sets, so this got me curious. I checked the setlist resource here. I see 9 shows listed in 2017 as having 2 sets (a microtonal set and then a regular rock set), but I have my doubts that these are actually 2-set shows. I think this is an artifact of the early days, when fans would enter setlists on setlist.fm and other sites but is not accurate.
For example, here is a link to the complete 3-31-2017 show that is listed here on kglw.net as being a 2-set show. It’s obvious that there is not a setbreak between Rattlesnake and Alter Me I. The music stops for about 90 seconds between songs while they switch from microtonal to regular instruments, and the band doesn’t leave the stage. That’s not a setbreak, so it’s not a 2-set show.
In the interest of accuracy and being the authority on KG live shows, I think you should consider revising all of these supposed 2-set shows.
Okay, here’s a video of the second set from 3-22-2017, starting with the band walking onto the stage before Alter Me I. So maybe they did actually play 2 separate sets and leave the stage at those early 2017 shows in Australia.
So maybe my point here really only applies to the 3-31-2017 show.
As long as I’m paying attention to setlist minutia, there is a clear break in the music between Witchcraft and Perihelion on 5/29/25, but the website has it listed as Witchcraft > Perihelion. I guess there is a single droning note from Cookie or Ambrose that carries over between songs, but that hardly seems worthy of a segue notation.
Another bit of setlist minutia just caught my attention. If you look at the song history for LSSF, there is the claim that they played it once in 2015, and then not again until they started playing it regularly in 2017. I’m rather skeptical about this first time played claim. Anything is possible of course, but this just seems pretty unlikely given what we know about what they were doing in 2015. The show notes says that this was “reported by an attendee”. Is there any corroboration? I suppose there’s almost no way to know. Is there an official kglw.net policy about these types of claims?
There isn’t much of a strict policy, since the song was released by then it’s plausible it got played. The setlist data 2015-2017 is fairly incomplete, so it could have just been a very rare song. Or they tried it that one time and didn’t like it, only coming back to it much later. Hard to say.
This came from a Facebook post in April 2017 where someone had messaged the band asking if they had ever played LSSF. They said they did a few times back in 2015 and should bring it back someday (which happened during the Audiotree 2017 show). In the replies of this, someone replied and confirmed that they had seen them perform the song during the Atlanta 2015 performance. While it could be someone misremembering, they were playing a few rarities during that tour as a few shows prior they brought back Her and I for the first time in 9 months (which I personally didn’t believe until we found video proof of). Hopefully someday a recording surfaces of a 2015 rendition, but until then I do trust the attendee claim if the band also said that they had played it during that time.
