right?
Why isn’t it MY favourite song? What is wrong with me?
Do we even realise the sheer greatness?
Why don’t I think twice before posting? Has it got something to do with the fact that there are currently ZERO eu shows programmed?

Offhand-poster solidarity here. I’ve deleted a few things after realizing that they weren’t interesting to anybody else.
But don’t do that. We should have a deep-dive debate about this very important point. ![]()
I wouldn’t want to cause division among the community…I think a debate like this would split you and me, static electricity.
That would be static electricity creating tension, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all.
OK, so I played Static Electricity on the way back from the store, and you’re absolutely right. I can’t explain why it’s not my favorite song.
I mean, except that I’m terrible at picking favorites, and would have to have about twenty-three others, just from Gizzard, never mind other bands.
Static Electricity is without a doubt the best song on both KG and LW combined if you ask me. And yeah, definitely one of the faves in general.
buncha peak but unfortunately head on / pill exists ![]()
The Captain Beefheart connection alone is enough to make it one of my favs. Yet on its own, Static Electricity is still one of the greatest. Thank you for raising this important issue.
I just had to check my stats. I’ve only seen Static Electricity once. That was 8/27/24 at The Dell in Philly. Time for a relisten!
also true, also true

Saw it right the first time: mars for the rich → automation → static electricity (if anyone wants to guess the city)
See? An important, albeit complicated, matter.
The Captain Beefheart connection
OK, I’m clueless – what connection?
(courageously, I was waiting for someone else to post this question)
You know, you’re cooking here, but my favourite song is heavily biased towards “Whatever I’m Currently Listening To”, so right now it’s “Spacesick”.
I guess I just feel there’s a connection between Beefheart’s “Electricity” and Gizz’s “Static Electricity.” Maybe the connection is less sonic than it is conceptual, though I do see some lyrical intertextuality.
“Static Electricity” opens with these lines:
Split you and me static electricity.
Static electricity.
Split you and me static electricity.
“Electricity” opens with these:
Singin’ through you to me
Thunderbolts caught easily
Shouts the truth peacefully
Electricity
Technically I’m still clueless, since I haven’t really dug into Beefheart yet, but I believe you! ![]()
No time like the present! He’s got lots of great albums. Safe As Milk is a good place to start. One of my favs is Shiny Beast/Bat-Chain Puller. Of course, Trout Mask Replica is his magnum opus but it’s definitely the most challenging.
