Was reading theough the lyrics of Hot Water when I noticed the lines Vomit and System Failure (which would basically be death for a robot) and either that’s a reference to Han-Tyumi or just a coincidence. I don’t know if this is a well known theory or not (I’m pretty new), but I just wanted to share it.
Good question. Here’s our history of the song: History "Hot Water" by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.
I’m curious to hear what @TimelandIsWacky and @W.B.T.G.Slinger think of this.
there was a song other day with lyrics referencing the Antarctic but now i cant seem to remember what damn song… anyways
Do you think “all the bricks that build our brain will be turned into sand by the eternal wave” it’s related to “I see through the bricks to the sea, crumbling castle”?
I’d lean more towards coincidence personally. To my knowledge Han-Tyumi as a concept doesn’t come around until 2016. At the end of their documentary A BRIEF HISTORY OF PLANET EARTH you see Stu describing Han-Tyumi’s story to Joey, so I’m guessing all of that was new at the time and wasn’t really planned out years prior. I do think they end up circling back on certain ideas though. A lot of songs deal with death and environmentalism and Hot Water is so open-ended lyrically that you can read it in a lot of ways, sometimes multiple ways at the same time (the song’s title is a double entendre). The Gizzverse really comes down to how you want to view it and this one is a great example.
